Bawley

A bawley

The bawley is a variant of the smack, distinguishable by its loose-footed sail and transom stern.

This one, which sailed past us and anchored nearby while we were in the Colne, belongs to, and is here sailed by, Jimmy Lawrence, who skippered our charter of Pudge in 2000.
