Rammey Marsh Lock

The design of the ground-paddle gear and the lock-tail bridge are characteristic of the Lee Navigation.

Originally locks on the Lee & Stort Navigations were opened by ropes rather than balance beams. Rammey Marsh was the last lock where this method survived, being replaced by hydraulic gear just before the IWA "National" at Waltham Abbey in (I think) 1994.
