Birchills
Walsall top lock at Birchills. The building on the tight is a former boatmen's mission which in more recent times used to house a canal museum which, I understand, has now closed.
Across the canal used to be the yard of Ernie Thomas who ran one of the largest fleets of joey boats in the later years of trade on the BCN and later was a ;pioneer of hire-boats.
