A few minutes after the previous picture, David is steering nb Kew under the Northern Outfall Sewer bridge. In the days before Bow Locks were rebuilt, this section of the Bow Back Rivers was semi-tidal and the art of getting round the loop lay in working out when there would be enough water below you and enough air-draught under the lowest bridges like this one.
