Gravel traffic near Thurmaston
At this time there was regular traffic from a gravel pit somewhere downstream of Thurmaston to a wharf by Thurmaston lock. Unlike a similar project a few years before, this one was worked by a tug and lighters rather than by narrowboats. The tug is one of the Bantam class built by EC Jones of Brentford.
