Narrowboats President & KildareThe actual day of the bicentenary of the passing of the Grand Junction Canal Act was Friday 30 April, with Canalway Cavalcade starting the next day. SO we had a small ceremony on Friday lunchtime, with the arrival of the steamer President and its butty Kildare. President was steered by David Stephenson, the then national Chairman of IWA. They were greeted by our organising commitgtee plus Sir Anthony Durant MP and some other members of the Parliamentary Waterways Group. |
