City Mill LockThe lock was built with two pairs of gates at the tidal end so that it could be used whether the tidal level was higher or lower than the impounded level. At the time of this picture the gates were in a very precarious state, and a year or two later they were replaced by stop-planks. At the time of writing (Jan 2006) the lock has been re-gated as part of the "planning gain" from an adjacent development, and BW is looking for funding for the paddle gear. |
