Milepost
The milepost at Frankton Junction labels the canal that branches off here as the Montgomery Canal, which is not historically correct. The first section from the junction was originally built as part of the never-completed main line of the Ellesmere Canal to Shrewsbury and later incorporated into the Llanymynech Branch which led to the Montgomery Canal itself, built by a separate company.
