Today brought dry, cool, bright sunny weather. We made a very slow, grinding start at 07:21. Once again the autumn colours were really beautiful and we saw some bright pheasants in ploughed fields. By one bridge, there was a bluebell. Lovely morning & evening sky colours. We tied up once more at Norbury junction at 16:57. I went to the Junction Inn before dinner. There was hardly anyone in there, but interesting canal paintings in the bar. The forecast said more rain was due next day.

We set off at 07:52. The weather was grey & misty all day. We had a fast run to Factory junction where we passed on to the Old Main Line, and thence via Tipton junction on to the Dudley Canal to tie up at the Black Country museum. We had a late breakfast, then went into the museum for a leisurely walk around in uncrowded conditions. A film-set was being built for the BBC production of The Old Wives Tale, turning this bit of Dudley into the Five Towns.
