Lambart's Bridge

The "Shroppie" main line (originally the Birmingham & Liverpool Junction Canal) was built as straight as possible in order to save journey time and compete with the railways. This necessitated some dramatic cuttings and embankments. Many of the deep cuttings were spanned by the elegant "rocket" bridges.
