For details of our boat at this time, Felis Catus, see here. At this stage, the
syndicate of owners consisted of Wendy and myself, plus our friends Ian Pratt
and Dave Butler. Roger and Christine Dale were no longer shareholders, but
still did some boating with us.
We returned to our own boat at Berkhamsted at the end of our
adventurous trip on the Nene in flood.

TO DRY DOCK
SATURDAY 6thDECEMBER |
Mike, Wendy, Ian (+ Ray on Albion) Little Venice
to Uxbridge |
The boat sank at its moorings. With the help of Charlie
Green (BW foreman) and the Fire Brigade it was got back up, then Ray Dunford's
head appeared, above the towpath fence and said "You look as if you could do
with a tow. I'll go & get my boat." We set off at 15:30 Under tow from
Albion, breasted up with our bilge-pump working continuously off
Albion's elex. It was a long slow run to Bull's Bridge and the main line,
varied slightly when the breasted boats had problems getting past a lighter
moored in a bridge 'ole. I steered most of the way, while Wendy cooked some
jacket spuds in Albion's range, and Ray sat in his cabin
painting.
We moored outside the General Elliot, Uxbridge, at
22:30. We went home and Ray stayed the night on Albion. We had a dry
dock booking for a few weeks' time, and Alan Boswell arranged to swap it so
that John Wooley could deal with our problems pretty soon. The boat was to
spend all the time until the following July at Uxbridge being worked on by
John, including having a new stem-post fitted. DAY'S RUN 18.7
miles, 1 lock in 7 hours |
