Stoke-on-Trent

When we first cruised through Stoke-on-Trent, in 1983 we were bemused by the way the whole canalside had been transformed (and parts of the canal re-aligned) by a major road-building project, which meant that the surroundings were nothing like those shown on the map. Since then there has been yet more road-building, although at least now some of the junctions with former branches that have been eliminated are marked with signs like the one I photographed at Trentham. I think the area in the photo dates from the 1980s project rather than the more recent one.
