Old Ford JunctionWe are about to emerge from the Old River Lea into the main line of the Lee Navigation, whose towpath crosses on the bridge shown. The section of the Navigation to our left is the Bow River, an ancient part of the navigation. Out of shot on the right, Old Ford locks mark the start of the Hackney Cut, created in 1767 to by-pass some meanders and mills on the old course of the river, as part of a larger scheme to improve the Lee Navigation. |
