Carpenters Road LockThis is on the Old River Lea, in between its junction with the City Mill River (out of shot on the right) and the Waterworks River (beyond the lock). It has interesting rising-sector gates at both ends, which is pretty rare, if not unique. When the Olympic site is built, this will be under neat a massive "land bridge", which will be a high level and so won't impede the potential restoration of the lock. That restoration is believed to be a fairly simple project. There are conflicting rumours about whether or not the restoration will happen before the Olympics. |
