Steering under sail
Peter is steering the barge, keeping an eye on how the mainsail is drawing. Note the multiple pulley-blocks which control the sheet (bottom corner) of the mainsail. They are used to connect it to a traveller - a large block that slides across the barge on a heavy beam called the horse.
