Grosvenor Dock
This dock and its entrance lock are all that survive of the former Grosvenor Canal, most of which was filled in for the building of Victoria Station.
Until a few years ago the dock was used as a waste transfer station for carrying the City of Westminster's rubbish away by water, until this traffic was removed, mostly to a more modern transfer station in Wandsworth.
The dock is temporarily used for moorings, but planning permission has recently (Summer 2000) been granted for redevelopment of the whole site. I understand that some of the water-space will be lost and the rest will become (probably rather expensive) residential moorings.
