The canal passes right through the London Zoo, which was opened in 1838 and is run by the London Zoological Society. The towpath is overshadowed by this aviary, designed by Lord Snowdon in 1965. If you're lucky, you might sometimes see an elephant being taken for a walk across the bridge in this picture.
