Islington

Islington visitor moorings

My favourite central London mooring, by the eastern portal of Islington tunnel. The tunnel is 960 yards (886 m) long, 17 ft (5.2 m) wide and has a headroom of 9'9" (3 m). From 1827 steam tugs were provided to take boats through the tunnel, to cure the bottle-neck caused by the slowness of legging though.
