On Duckett's Cut

Duckett's Cut

On the Hertford Union Canal, a.k.a. Duckett's Cut, which was built in 1830 for Sir George Duckett (Jr.), proprietor of the River Stort Navigation. This cross-connection to the Lee Navigation is just over a mile long and has three locks. After Duckett became bankrupt, the canal was bought by the Regent's Canal Company. Here we see the approach to the top lock, with Victoria Park on the left.
