Paddington Basin, looking towards the end of the basin. At the time of writing (Oct 2002) a major development is in progress all round the basin, which is expected to bring life back to the area. The basin will be surrounded by offices and flats, with new buildings for the hospital on the south side, and shops and restaurants at the far end. There will be various kinds of moorings, including a side-basin which will probably be for residential boats. The canopy of the covered wharf at the far end of the basin (centre background) has been dismantled and preserved, and will be incorporated into one of the new buildings in a different part of the site. The modern building on the far right is the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother wing of St Mary's Hospital.
