At Walthamstow, below Lea Bridge, the river Lee divides on its way south. The main flow goes over this weir into what soon changes its name to the Waterworks River, which is tidal. The navigation continues southwards (to the right of the picture) down the Hackney Cut (built in the middle-18th century), which ends at Old Ford Locks (see separate photo), after which the navigation re-joins the natural course of the river.
