Pond Lane flood gates

Pond Lane flood gates

This is the remains of Pond Lane flood gates. These were a protection of the Lee above this point against flooding from the Thames. When the Thames Barrier was built they became redundant and were removed. The wall on the right is the boundary of the former Middlesex Filter Beds, now a nature reserve & open to the public.
