The entrance to the Cut from Limehouse Basin. The sharp corner shows where the original line to the old Limehouse Lock was abandoned in 1968. That line went off to the right of the picture. The direct connection to the Thames was replaced by a link to Limehouse Basin, to the left front of the picture. This was a re-instatement (in a slightly different location) of a former link that had been filled in when the Basin was enlarged some time in the later part of the 19th century.
