Looking south from Dolphin Bridge. The wharf is on the left of the picture, the General Elliott pub on the right.
The wharf was originally built as the temporary northern terminus of the Grand Junction Canal from Brentford, in order to generate income for building the next stage.
From about 1890 the wharf became one of the boat-building and maintenance yards of Fellows, Morton and Clayton.
It is now the home of Uxbridge Boat Centre (boat repairs, chandlery etc), a number of smaller boat-related businesses and the Hillingdon Canal Club (where we moor Felis Catus II), whose clubhouse in the former paint-dock building is visible in the middle distance (on the left) of this picture.
