When the newly-formed Grand Union Canal Company set up its own Carrying Company in the 1930s, it built a large maintenance depôt here, opposite Bull's Bridge Junction. A large Tesco supermarket (with its own moorings) now occupies the site. One of the old dry-docks is preserved as a non-working exhibit, the other is still in use.
