Batchworth locks

These locks are near the town centre of Rickmansworth.

The lock on the right of the picture is on the Grand Union main line. The other lock leads to the River Chess, which was once navigable to serve a number of mills, and connected to some of the gravel pits in the area. Part of it is used nowadays as moorings.

The buildings on the left house the Batchworth Lock Centre museum.
