The House Mill

Dating from 1776, this is the older and more interesting of the two mills. It is seen here before its restoration.

It was built (on the site of a former flour mill) to grind malt for the gin-distilling trade. Behind the brick facing it is a timber-framed building. Its for tidal water-wheels would produce 100 horse-power.

It is possibly the largest tide mill ever built in the world, and is listed Grade 1.
