The House MillDating from 1776, this is the older and more interesting of the two mills. It is seen here before its restoration. It was built (on the site of a former flour mill) to grind malt for the gin-distilling trade. Behind the brick facing it is a timber-framed building. Its for tidal water-wheels would produce 100 horse-power. It is possibly the largest tide mill ever built in the world, and is listed Grade 1. |
