City Mill Lock

City Mill lock

City Mill Lock seen from St Thomas' Creek. The rather strangely-angled stop-planks in the foreground replaced the gates in the early '90s. I don't know quite how they got to be at the angle shown! They have subsequently (in the winter of 2000/2001) been replaced by new planks, when the ones at the other end of the lock were made higher as part of the work to keep the tide out of what had been the semi-tidal sections of the Lee Navigation and the Bow Back Rivers.

The lock cottage in the background is still occupied.
