George's Canal Boating in the UK and Europe The best starting place for all waterways contacts. Look here in particular for details of the canals mailing lists and uk.rec.waterways newsgroup.
Jim Shead's site Contains lots of stuff of waterways interest.
Tim's Waterways index A much fuller index of waterways-related web sites than this one!
A brief history of English Canals By Mike Clarke. well worth reading.
Historic Boats Roger Fuller's site about historic narrowboats
Canalia Includes (among other things) a directory of waterways businesses & societies and a "boats for sale" page.
Locks An interesting page about their history and some technical points.
Steev's canal pages Designed for newcomers to the canals.

British Waterways 'Updated' logo Who run (most of) the canal system. This site deals with corporate aspects of BW.
Waterscape NEW icon BW's other website which also includes a lot of onfroamtion about non-BW waterways.
Stoppages NEW icon The bit of the Watersacpe site which deals with waterways stoppages.
Environment Agency Thames Region NEW icon The navigation authority for the non-tidal Thames. This their promotional site.
Port of London Authority NEW icon The navigation authority for the Thames tideway.

I.W.A. : THE INLAND WATERWAYS ASSOCIATION If you are at all interested in waterways, you ought to join. The site has complete Branch and Region details, a comprehensive diary, an on-line magazine based on Head Office Bulletin, on-line IWA shop, and details of the IWA on-line shop 'New' icon.
wrg : THE WATERWAY RECOVERY GROUP 'Updated' logo One of IWA's subsidiaries, which is the national co-ordingting body for voluntary work on waterways restoration.
I.W.A. LONDON REGION 'Updated' logo The name says it all. One of the other sites I maintain.
I.W.A. CANALWAY CAVALCADE 'Updated' logo London's premier waterways event. The third site I maintain.
BCNS The Birmingham Canal Navigations Society
D.B.A. DBA - the Barge Association (formerly The Dutch Barge Association)
Friends of President The most famous steam narrowboat on the canals

Canal Boat & Inland Waterways Another waterways magazine - the newest and possibly the best of the "big three".

Hotel boat holidays For those who, for one reason or another, don't want the work of self-drive boating..
Canal Planner 'Updated' logo The site where you can buy the late Syd Arkless' Canal Planner and Canal Logger software
The London Canal Museum If you don't know it already, visit the site first and then the museum. If you come on a Friday you're likely to fine me manning the desk.
