NOTE: now the busy time of organising our own events is replaced by a less frantic (but no less serious) programme for the final run-up to the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review, and now I'm back cruising for most of the time, up-dates to this site will happen a bit less frequently than they did over the winter

  • Repaired a broken internal link to the Wheelton event.
  • Linked to the first day's evidence to the EFRA SC investigation of British Waterways.
  • Added a little more details of our Devizes event.
  • Added to our resources section a useful crib-sheet for people giving radio interviews. It was written for one of our events but could easily be adapted for others.
  • Added an urgent and important note for local event organisers from our Press Liaison Officer.

  • LInked to an article in the Chorley Citizen with advance publicity for our Wheelton event, and to one from the Bucks Heraldwith yet more advance publiciy for our Marsworth event.
  • Up-dated details of our Ashton event, and added a poster for it.
  • Up-dated details of our Fradley event, and added a poster for it.

27 February

  • Our electronic petition is now past its closing date. The finaly tally of signatures is 7,205.
  • Meanwhile our written petition goes on. The signatures counted to date are around 26,000 and with those we expect to add at this weekend's events 30,000 seems within reach.
  • Added a SOW Press Statement for use by any campaigners talking to the Press.
  • Added more details details of our Macclesfield and Marsworth events.
  • Corrected a typo in the contact details for our Garstang event.
  • Linked to the Parliamentary Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee's second report, dealing with DEFRA's financial management and the cuts, and added an abridged version of the report (thanks for the latter to Emrhys Barrell) and to an IWA Press Release commenting on the report and looking to the EFRAC examination of BW.
  • Added a page about our new constituency-based petitions.

21 February

  • TODAY IS THE CLOSING DAY FOR SIGNATURES TO OUR ELECTRONIC PETITION. We have 7,105 signatures as of 14:15 on 21 February.SIGN IT HERE
  • Our March event formerly labelled "Anderton" is now labelled Northwich, which is less confusing.
  • Added an announcement of a new March event at Wheelton.
  • The March event at Marsworth now has a second MP coming, and more details of activities there have been added.
  • Added (slightly belatedly) IWA Branch Briefing Notes no.10.
  • Added the Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival to the list of events later in the year that will have a SOW presence.
  • Linked to another article in Hemel Hempstead Today with advance publicity for our Marsworth event.
  • Up-dated details of the Braunston & Fradley events in March.
  • Corected one of the e-mail contacts for the Newbury event in March.

  • Added more details of the Leighton Buzzard, Tarleton and Garstang events in March. NOTE the latter is a change if venue for what had previous been planned for Preston.
  • Our electronic petition now has 6917 signatures as at 05:00 on 20 February. NOTE - The closing date for this petition is tomorrow.

  • Added details of new events in March at Leighton Buzzard and Anderton (Northwich).
  • Added details & contact for the Fradley Junction event in March.
  • Up-dated the details of our campaign wear.
  • Linked to an article in Hemel Hempstead Today with advance publicity for our Marsworth event.
  • We now have a bulletin board devoted to our campaign, which has been provided by NABO. You can find it here. We are encouraging event organisers to post their latest news there, so you might pick it up there before I get it here! Its open to anybody to post any messages they like about the SOW campaign.

13 February

  • Added more details of the Ashton-under-Lyne March event.
  • Added a picture to the page for the Preston event.
  • Removed the reference to a possible event in the West Midlands as the relevant groups have decided to support the one at Fradley Junction.
  • Added the text of a strongly supportive resolution for debate at the Lib Dem Spring Conference.
  • Our electronic petition now has 6187 signatures as at 17:00 on 13 February.

12 February

  • Reorganised the list of events for March so that where an event is using two venues, each gets a separate listing. Added a map of the March events.
  • Added details of the event at Macclesfield
  • Promoted the Fradley Junction event to the "definite" list, although details are still awaited.
  • Our electronic petition now has 6106 signatures as at 23:00 on 12 February.
  • Our paper petition now has nearly 17,500 signatures counted to date, with the Boiat & Caravan Shw in Birmingham and the March events yet to come. The revised deadline for getting completed petition forms in is that they should be posted Fitrst Class by 5th March.
