NEW LAYOUT

Felis Catus: later layout

This shows the layout of the boat after we had done quite a bit of re-fitting. We got rid of the two aftermost berths, using some of the space for storage and some to relocate the loo compartment. This rear area also contained what we jokingly referred to as the "chart-table", which had a desk carrying the cruising log and shelves for maps & cruising guides.

The space where the loo compartment and wardrobe used to be was converted into a small berth (our friend Trevor was the only adult we knew who was short enough to sleep in it) which did double-duty as extra kitchen storage and working space.

The forward cabin had to be refitted since the timber of the two berths was in poor condition, so we replaced the two single berths by a pair of bunks. At this time, the school where three of the four of us worked was re-fitting its science labs, and we were able to get hold of a couple of old lab bench-tops which were going to be thrown away. These were made of iroko and furnished the timber for the new bunks and a comfortable seat on top of the rail around the spacious back deck.
